A full performance of Katrina Ballads with Chatterbird and Isaiah Robinson. Katrina Ballads is an hour-long oratorio that uses the words of survivors, relief workers, politicians, and celebrities to paint a picture of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It is an ensemble work for 5 singers (SATTB) and 11 instruments (flute, clarinet, trumpet, horn, violin, viola, cello, electric guitar, electric bass guitar, piano, drums/percussion). It premiered in on May 28, 2007 at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, Charleston South Carolina.

“Katrina Ballads” also includes an educational program for local high school students, empowering them to explore how music and art can be used to highlight issues of injustice.
