Sita Ram: A World Music Opera

Sita Ram is an exciting project - essentially a full-length musical theater production, commissioned by Josephine Lee and the Chicago Children's Choir. It's a retelling of the Ramayana, an ancient Hindu epic. Songs were written by Jai Uttal, which I arranged for band, string quartet, full choir and soloists. The book was written by David Kersnar.

This show received its premiere in workshop form in May 2003 at Ravinia Festival Park in Highland Park, Illinois. In March 2006, Sita Ram will be produced by Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre as part of their subscription series.
